Nickel and Dimed is about how the author (Barbara Ehrenreich) wants to see what it is like to live in poverty and work
full-time, low paying jobs. She wanted to see how someone can live on a job paying as much as 6 to 8 dollars an hour. She
tries out this life in 3 different states; her home state of Florida, Minnesota and Maine. Barbara maintains many jobs and
more then one at a time from waitressing to being a salesperson.
